It is designed to keep you informed about what your kids are doing in our programs and to teach you a little bit about the chess world. Kid Chess Spooktackular Tournaments
We are all about celebrating the fun of Halloween at Kid Chess! We had our annual Spooktacular tournaments at our Chess Zone facility in the days leading up to candy day. These events featured a blacklight atmosphere that is always popular with the kids, and both regular and bughouse chess tournaments were contested. But the fun isn’t over yet–we’ll have another Black Light Bonanza on November 29th!
Chess Books
We are proud here at Kid Chess that we often see younger siblings follow their older siblings in our programs. That means that many of you may have middle schoolers, and for them, we have a book recommendation for you. Described as a family-friendly version of The Queen’s Gambit, May the Best Player Win explores gender stereotypes and the pressure to succeed through the eyes of a chess prodigy. The book would also be appropriate for any particularly precocious 4th or 5th graders.
International Master Carissa Yip, the current U.S. Women’s Chess Champion, called May the Best Player Win: “A game-changer for readers of all ages, regardless of whether you play chess! This book will have you inspired to conquer your next match in life.”

Learn Chess with the Kid Chess App!
Are you a chess novice but you want to learn to play the game now that you’ve seen how much fun your child is having? Our Kid Chess App can be fun for adults to use to learn the game, even though it is certainly designed for kids. Please also encourage your Kid Chess student to utilize the app regularly–this will reinforce what we are teaching them in the clubs and camps.
